The Classical canon expands more this month with two major sonatas by Franz Schubert performed by the excellent Korean pianist, Young-Ah Tak. The A minor, D 784 and G major, D 894 sonatas appear in the Spirio catalog for the first time and are a great reminder of this short-lived genius. Young-Ah also includes a lesser-known work by Beethoven – a set of Variations based on a theme by Giovanni Paisiello.

And the formidable Ukrainian pianist Illia Ovcharenko, in turn, starts his program with a set of Variations on a theme by Beethoven – the famous theme from the slow movement of the 7th Symphony – another debut of a lesser-known work by the great Robert Schumann. Illia completes his program with a phenomenal performance of the Liszt B minor Sonata.
