spirio welcomes the holidays with music for special occasions, serious listening, or simply to accompany your day. Next month we will present a new set from one of today’s greatest Jazz pianists, Bill Charlap. This month, he kicks off the holiday season with our featured video, performing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

Davell Crawford, known as the “Prince of New Orleans” plays a special Christmas set for us this month that brings a festive New Orleans spirit to the holidays — music for the cocktail hour, trimming the tree, a caroling sing-along, or to gently send you to sleep on Christmas Eve.

Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker is a perennial favorite during the holiday season, and Spirio offers a sparkling version performed by the remarkable Canadian pianist Stewart Goodyear. His arrangement of the score rivals the orchestral version and brings the magical kingdom into your home. There is also a special set of classical music for the Christmas season.

Along with his Christmas set, Davell Crawford plays a full program in his unique New Orleans style, with hits from Louis Armstrong to Allen Toussaint to Fats Domino. Davell’s authentic and inspired music comes from the heart and is full of joy.

If you follow the jazz scene, you will want to know about Chris Pattishall. This up-and-coming jazz pianist and composer can be heard at the renowned jazz clubs in New York City where he lives, and he has just produced an elegant set of standards and discoveries for spirio. His refined style is compelling, and we are thrilled to present one of the hottest new American jazz players to our Spirio owners.

Important classical artists join the spirio roster this month as well: Meng-ChiehLiu, a Curtis faculty member and mentor to Yuja Wang, performs a powerful version of Béla Bartók’s Hungarian Peasant Songs. The talented Swiss pianist Gilles Vonsattel plays Bach and Debussy, and this year’s winner of the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, ChangYong Shin performs Beethoven’s Op. 101 Sonata and the Bach D Major Toccata.
