The Music of Romance leads February highlights for Steinway & Sons Spirio, the world's finest high resolution player piano, along with celebration of the Chinese New Year. Some songs are both romantic and lunar in nature, such as KangDing Love Song (康定情歌) and In That Faraway Place (在那遥远的地方).
For Valentine’s, Spirio offers playlists of Romantic Classical favorites and Seductive and Lighthearted Jazz. In honor of Chinese New Year, Spirio delivers a range of Classical and Folk music of China, including our newly-recorded version of Huanzhi Li’s Spring Festival Overture. There is also new pop music available, including the music of Teresa Teng, Jacky Cheung, and original works performed by Li Quan himself. Our SpirioSync video this month is Li Quan’s Piece #4, written exclusively for Spirio.
What’s New
This month we welcome the renowned English classical pianist Paul Lewis to the Spirio roster. His always tasteful pianism is on display in a Chopin Waltz and the Gigue from Bach’s first Partita.
Valentine’s is made extra special with jazz contributions from Joe Augustine, who debuts on Spirio this month with a smoothly performed collection of standards. There are lots of new romantic tracks from David Osborne and a Cole Porter set from Simon Mulligan, as well. And we get a taste of K-Pop from Sunny Choi.
There are more new classical tracks from Hong Kong-based pianist Carol Yu. The young American pianist Thomas Nickell debuts on Spirio, and performs the exotic music of French modernist Olivier Messiaen. Thomas is also joined by Cosmo Buono for a group of 4-Hand Ländler by Schubert. Important new compositions by Lowell Lieberman, Michael Brown and Avner Dorman are performed, respectively, by Aristo Sham, Anna Han and Melemed Mackenzie — exceptional young pianists each debuting on Spirio this month as well.
