Pei-I Wang

Dr. Pei-I Wang is an accomplished pianist and educator, currently serving as the Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Millikin University in Illinois. Known for her versatile and expressive performances, she has captivated audiences in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Wang has performed as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, Sangamon Valley Civic Orchestra, University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, among others. Her recording of Carl Czerny’s four-handed piano fantasies with Dr. Sam Gingher was released in September 2020 under the NAXOS label. 
Wang has won numerous awards in competitions, including the Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition, the Mauro Paolo Monopoli Prize Asian Auditions, the Vivaldi International Music Competition, the 21st-Century Piano Commission Competition with composer John Ritz, U of I Concerto Competition, among others. She was a Gilmore International Keyboard Festival Fellow in 2008, and her performances have been broadcast by WILL FM, the Texas Public Radio, and so on.  
A passionate advocate for contemporary music, Wang has performed at notable events such as the Red Note New Music Festival, the Midwest Composers Symposium, the Composers Alliance of San Antonio series, etc. She also regularly performs as the Principal Keyboardist for the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to her performing career, Wang is a dedicated educator, presenter, and clinician. She was invited to present at professional music conferences across the United States, and her students garnered numerous awards and scholarships. Wang teaches and performs at several summer institutions in the United States, Asia, and Europe. She currently serves as the Competitions Director for the Illinois State Music Teachers Association. She was fortunate to study piano under the tutelage of esteemed Steinway Artists, including Dr. Daming Zhu, Dr. Ian Hobson, and Dr. Rolf-Peter Wille.
