Pianist Yalan Piao, originally from China, is an accomplished pianist who has performed as both a soloist and collaborative pianist in concert halls and churches across the United States, Italy, and China. As a soloist, Yalan has played at renowned venues like Shanghai Concert Hall, He Luting Concert Hall in China, Kresge Hall at Madonna University, and various churches in the Metro Detroit area. She has also been a part of prestigious music festivals such as the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, “BIMFA on the Road” International Music Festival and Walnut Hill Music Festival. Her talent has earned her top prizes in Marquette Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition and American Prodégé Competition. Beyond her performances, Yalan is an avid educator and adjudicator for piano competitions and adjunct faculty member at Madonna University, where she teaches piano and works as a collaborative pianist.
Dr. Piao offers weekly private piano lessons for ages 5 through adult of all musical levels. She covers all the fundamentals of piano instruction, incorporating scales and arpeggios, etudes, theory, and a variety of repertoire into her curriculum, while customizing the curriculum to meet her student’s musical goals. She also offers a variety of performance opportunities for students, including annual student recitals, Royal Conservatory of Music exams and Student Achievement Testing through MMTA. For advanced students, participation in local and regional competitions is encouraged.
Note: There is a $25.00 enrollment fee, payable to Steinway Piano Gallery, due at registration. Siblings are $15.00.
