A metro Detroit native, Dianne Cragg is a classically trained pianist and began her piano studies at the age of seven. She credits her musical foundation to her first piano teacher, the late Lorraine Stenborg. During her childhood, Dianne participated in numerous recitals at the Michigan Music Festival, sponsored by Grinnell Brothers and attended by thousands annually. After graduating from high school where she accompanied the choirs, Dianne attended Wayne State University where she studied piano with Mischa Kottler, choral conducting with Harry Langsford, and pipe organ with Ray Ferguson. Throughout her professional career, Dianne has held numerous positions in academia, worship venues and musical theatre. She has been the director of music at Greenfield Presbyterian Church for 19 years and is very active with music directing at several community theatres.
Dianne brings over 30 years of experience to The Arts Academy. She believes students are unique individuals, each with their own learning style and potential. Her teaching approach provides structured lessons with fun, encouraging interaction, and fostering development of fundamental skills. Though not required, Dianne prepares her students to participate in annual recitals. She teaches in the afternoon and evenings for $35 per half hour lesson, billed monthly.
