Vocalist April Tini enjoys a multi-faceted career as a performer, educator and clinician in today's vocal jazz and choral education movement. April has conducted college and secondary choirs in all styles of music and serves as a clinician and adjudicator for camps, festivals and music institutions worldwide, including the Detroit Jazz Workshop. As a vocalist, she performs regularly in jazz groups throughout Detroit and appears on many Detroit based jazz recordings. Her vocal jazz arrangements are published by Shawnee Press and UNC Jazz Press. April received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Western Michigan University, where she directed WMU’s award-winning Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Gold Company. Recently retired from West Bloomfield public schools, April is a former Voice Faculty member from Berklee College of Music and is currently on the Jazz faculty at Wayne State University.
