Norah Duncan iv buys new johannus organ

It’s been a great year for Dr. Norah Duncan IV, since his decision to purchase a brand new Johannus LiVE III organ for his home in Farmington Hills. Norah is Professor and former Chair of the Department of Music at Wayne State University and for 26 years served as the Director of Music for Detroit’s Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

It all started when Norah reached out to Steinway Piano Gallery of Detroit in search of an upgrade to his 2-manual Allen. Norah needed an organ that would parallel the 3-manual organ he played at his parish.

Steinway’s organ team, Christopher Claypoole and President Tim Hoy personally met with Norah to discuss his goals and recommended the Johannus LiVE III.

With an ever-growing library of fifteen historic organs from across Europe and the United States, the Johannus LiVE III holds up to five different sample sets at a time, allowing the organist to change to a completely different instrument at the push of a button.

A current LiVE III owner and fellow church musician graciously opened his home to host a demonstration for Dr. Duncan. The moment Nora’s fingers touched the keys his face lit up upon hearing the famous Hill & Sons organ of Holy Name Church, Manchester England. There was no turning back.

The organ was ordered and arrived while renovation of the Duncan home was still under way. Steinway Piano Gallery held the new organ at the showroom and arranged for Norah to spend some private time getting to know the new instrument. Weeks later, with renovations complete, the new organ was finally delivered by Steinway Piano Gallery’s regular moving contractor, JP’s Piano Moving.
