Playing songs by ear on a mini electric keyboard, my mom suspected her little girl probably had some talent and would enjoy taking piano lessons (thanks Mom!!) My formal lessons began at 7, one month shy of turning 8. I appreciated how dedicated my parents were to seeing me succeed at piano by investing their encouragement, time, and finances, into 14 years of lessons!
In fact my mom sat with me almost everyday those first few years to oversee my practicing and guide me along the way. What an incredible difference that made in my consistent progress and continued motivation to practice.
At 18, I began teaching piano and knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! The last chapter of my formal music studies brought me to Utah State University where I received a Bachelor of Music cumlaude in Piano Pedagogy class of 1993.
Along with piano study, came cello lessons at age 10 until 22. My Dad bought me my very own cello at 16( thanks Dad!!) Playing in orchestra through my childhood, during my university years, and now in the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra as principal cellist, is another great love of mine.
I was also greatly inspired by my piano professors Dr.Irene Weiss Peery-Fox, Dr. Dianne Hardy, Professor Gary Amano, and Dr.Thomas Foster. My cello professors Dr. Warren Burton and Dr. James McWhorter encouraged me immensely during my high school and college years. Extreme gratitude for all my amazing professors for helping to shape me into the musician and teacher I am today!
My musical adventure continues to this day as I begin my 36th year of teaching this September 2026!!

Teaching/Studio location: The studio is conveniently and centrally located very close to many schools such as Alta, Jordan , Corner Canyon, as well as Eastmont Middle, Indian Hills Middle, Glacier Hills, Waterford, Challenger, Mt. Jordan, and several elementary schools! I am also close to several parks( Lone Peak,Storm Mountain, and Bear Park) and many grocery stores ( Smiths, Harmons), restaurants, rec centers and sports facilities. Many parents are able to take other siblings to run errands,drop off to other sports/activities, or go to the park while other siblings are dropped off for lessons!
